I was walking along a row of full and towering pine bushes that act as a natural fence around a large nearby business. While many of these bird-filled bushes were still healthy and upright, I did come to a few sections where singles, doubles, or triples had fallen right out of the ground. As i scouted around them, I observed the roots and patches of dirt that pulled up with them and found rather shallow roots. Here is the prophetic word. Not falling away and being taken out by the enemy requires deep roots of relationship with Holy Trinity. And a vital part of having deep roots requires knowing why you believe what you believe. A person may accept life through Jesus with joy, but do you know why you have accepted Him and are clinging to Him? “Because someone told me to” does not count. If one knows those vital questions from a personal place, then the enemy doesn’t stand a chance at convincing you to abandon your faith and uproot you. Your roots will be strong enough to hold you up through any ‘weather’ of circumstance and from shallowness of meaning that could otherwise cause you to wither (reference to Matthew 13:20-21). So the both encouragement and warning for believers is this… if you don’t already have a solid understanding of the why’s of what you believe and of what you do, pray about and seek to have a firm reasoning for yourself and also that you are ‘Always prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have, in gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15) In Jesus’s Name!
